The paper SPE-217668-MS "The Role of Semantic Networks in Mitigating Risk During Data Exchange in Multi-Disciplinary Well Construction" has been presented at the SPE/IADC Drilling conference in Galveston on Tuesday Mar 5, 2024. It has been written by: Cayeux, E., Daireaux, B., Macpherson, J., Damski, C., Annaiyappa, P., Carney, J., Ziadat, W., Harbidge, P., Edwards, M., and H. Bolt.

There was a good attendance: more than hundred persons.

There has been one question:

  • Q: does the users need to know anything about semantic descriptions?

  • A: no, this is completely transparent for the end-users. However, the programmers of the applications need to utilize the technology to make their application compatible with other viewpoints.

The paper SPE-217668-MS "The Role of Semantic Networks in Mitigating Risk During Data Exchange in Multi-Disciplinary Well Construction" is now available on OnePetro. It has been written by: Cayeux, E., Daireaux, B., Macpherson, J., Damski, C., Annaiyappa, P., Carney, J., Ziadat, W., Harbidge, P., Edwards, M., and H. Bolt.

It will be presented during the SPE/IADC Drilling Conference on Tuesday, Mar 5, 2024.

Meeting Feb 6, 2024

- submission of manuscript "Analysis Of The Sources Of Uncertainty In Geopressure Estimation While Drilling" to SPE-Journal has been rejected without possibilities for re-submission. Paper is nevertheless available as SPE-214962-MS (conference paper) on onepetro.

- review of presentation for paper SPE-217668-MS "The Role Of Semantic Networks In Mitigating Risk During Data Exchange In Multi-disciplinary Well Construction":

+ suggested to have indicator about the differences in the EMW plots

+ add a fourth conclusion about the potential severity of misinterpretation of EMW exchanged by computer systems.

- no objections from neither SPE-DSATS, nor SPE-DUPTS that task forces are established to work on specific short lasting task. However, it is pointed that there is a risk that our work may be overlooked because this will be made outside an official SPE framework.

Meeting Nov 22, 2023

- paper SPE-214962 "Analysis Of The Sources Of Uncertainty In Geopressure Estimation While Drilling" has been submitted for peer reviewing to the SPE Journal.

- we need to prepare the presentation of the paper SPE-217668-MS "The Role Of Semantic Networks In Mitigating Risk During Data Exchange In Multi-disciplinary Well Construction" before Feb 6, 2024.

- We decided to ask the following SPE TS DSATS, DUPTS and WPTS whether a "lightweight" sub-committee could be started that would address one particular over a limited period of time (for example 18 months). The topic would be: the description of sources and corrections for along hole depth uncertainties.

- We also discussed that describing a drilling data model that accounts for uncertainty and semantic description at all levels can first be discussed as part of the workstream "Contextual data" in D-WIS and the general guidelines could be presented to the…
